Global Search
Overview
Global Search helps you quickly find anything within your 5day.io account—tasks, projects, and users—without navigating through multiple workspaces or menus.
It provides a unified search panel so you can type a keyword and instantly locate relevant items across the entire system.
Global Search is especially useful when you manage multiple projects and need to jump to a task or project quickly. You can also use it to look up users and view their details.
How to Access Global Search
There are two ways to open Global Search:

Using the Search Icon
- On the left navigation panel, click the Search icon.
- A search panel will open on the right side of the screen.

Using the Hotkey
- Press s on your keyboard from anywhere in 5day.io to open Global Search instantly.
How Global Search Works
When you open Global Search:
- Only the search bar is visible initially.
- You must type at least two characters for the search to begin.
- Once results are available, the category tabs appear automatically:
- All
- Task
- Project
- User
These tabs allow you to refine the scope of your search after results are displayed.
Typing Your Search Keyword
- Enter at least two characters for the search to start.
- Results refresh automatically as soon as you meet the minimum character requirement.
Default Search Mode: All
- When you open the search panel, it is always set to All.
- In this mode, 5day.io searches across:
- Tasks
- Projects
- Users
All matching results across these three categories will appear together in a combined list.
Search Categories
You can narrow down your results by selecting a specific tab:
1. Task
When you click the Task tab:
- The search will return only tasks and subtasks that match your keyword.
- Each result shows:
- Task title
- Task icon and type
- Status
- Project details
- Assignee avatar/image (if any)
- Due date (if available)
Navigation:
Clicking a task result will take you directly to the task details page.
2. Project
When you click the Project tab:
- The search will return only projects that match your keyword.
- Each result shows:
- Project name
- Project status
- Workspace and space name
- Project owner avatar/image
Navigation:
Clicking a project result will take you directly to that project.
3. User
When you click the User tab:
- The search will return only users whose name or email address matches your keyword.
- Each user result shows:
- User avatar
- Full name
- Email ID
- Current status (e.g., Available/Offline)
Navigation:
Navigation is not applicable for user results.
